The Girl in the North was born as I was getting ready to graduate from University. If you've ever lived through a final year of uni you will have some idea of how stressful, scary and nerve wracking this time is.

This blog of mine was brought in to the world as a way of reminding me of the things I loved, from lifestyle to books, to beauty and to travel. The Girl in the North was created to give me a place where I could go to remind myself there is more to the world than the whirlwind that is University. 

 I tend to be glued to my laptop and so this diary of passions of mine was given it's place on the World Wide Web as I thought I might be more likely to stick at this new hobby, unlike the started, and quickly ended handwritten diary attempts I have made over the years.

 I hope you enjoy this new venture of mine, expect sarcastic comments, trivial moans and one northern girls ramblings about everything and anything.

February Reads (kind of)

I managed to read a grand total of one book this month (uni deadlines are slowly sucking the life out of me). I'd intended to have my first blog post to be a wrap up of all the books I'd read this month but as you've probably realised, that plan has gone down the drain. However, with the blizzard that is currently going on outside my window (welcome to March in England), I'm feeling a creative urge takeover and I have decided I am not going to let my failure of a reading month deter me from writing my first blog post. Academic stress

I'm going to make the strong assumption that everyone, at some point in their lives, has experienced some form of academic stress, whether that be at school, college or university. I've compiled a list of things that helps me deal with all the stress the university brings me, mostly for myself to refer back to since I am under no illusions that anybody reads this blog, but if you've happened to stumble upon my little corner of the internet, feel free to try out any of my tips and tricks. LISTS, LISTS, AND MORE LISTS. This is an old trick I always turn to when I'm feeling overwhelmed.
